"I view Gabriela’s as a personal reflection of Gabriela Bucio: opened in East Austin in 2018 when the siblings took over the former 100 Pizzitas space, the cuisine nods to their Michoacán upbringing and the drinks lean into Mexican desserts (paleta shots are featured and the tamarind margarita is a signature cocktail). The group expanded with a Southpark Meadows location in March 2021 that offers a large outdoor patio and abundant free parking to better serve South Austin and nearby suburbs, and both locations emphasize outdoor dining; during the pandemic the restaurants sustained business through to-go, curbside, and patio service while enforcing safety protocols such as tables six feet apart, seating limited to a maximum of 10 guests, and mask requirements for staff and patrons." - Gabrielle Pharms
