"I passed by Petey’s Burger on Vernon Boulevard and tried the stripped-down cheeseburger ($6.25), which felt like a platonic ideal of a fast-food burger: plenty of meat yet smashed and seared with a delicate hand so it was a bit crusty rather than dry. Unlike some smash burgers, this version includes lettuce and tomato in addition to onions, pickles, and a mayo-based sauce, and I gobbled it ferociously — two of these would make a magnificent meal." - Robert Sietsema
