"A bright, low-key Thai American diner in Bed-Stuy that stands out for a Thai spin on smash burgers and a large menu of Thai classics alongside playful Thai American creations. Opened in 2023 by Trevor Lombaer and Sutathip Aiemsaard, it’s a chill, snug counter-service spot where I go for the pad krapow burger at lunch—the single beef-and-pork patty is satisfying at $12 (or $18 for a double), a Thai-style fried duck egg can be added for $4, and Thai giardiniera gives a fresh lift; the mushroom patty is just as good for vegetarians, with great chew and texture. The minced pork holy basil stir fry ($16) is a staple, but the Brussels sprouts riff is more interesting and works well for anyone avoiding pork or who loves those crispy fried leaves; there are also staples like pad thai. Best for small groups, pairs, or solo diners, with counter seats looking into the kitchen or out to the sidewalk for people-watching—just travel light because the tables are tight. Time your visit: the burger is lunch-only; the pandan coconut cream pie and toasted sticky rice ice cream sundae are dinner-only; and the Chiang Mai sausage breakfast sandwich is brunch-only; reservations are accepted only for brunch and dinner." - Bettina Makalintal
