"Reopened after a three-month renovation that followed its 2008 debut as a lavish River North spot for bubbles and Venetian food, this restaurant now features a 35-foot quartz bar replacing the wooden one, a new walk-in wine cellar, and a pair of Murano glass chandeliers imported from Venice; the art has been refreshed, including a photography print from The Wolf of Main Street. Executive chef/partner Mark Sparacino has introduced a menu that blends longtime favorites with new items like gamberi primavera (spinach tagliatelle, sautéed shrimp, baby spinach, heirloom cherry tomatoes, pesto olive oil drizzle), and he says the kitchen will try to accommodate loyal diners if a favorite dish isn’t on the menu. While sparkling wine remains the focus, a revamped cocktail list — highlighted by the Blackberry (muddled blackberries shaken with Chardonnay and Amaro grappa and ginger liqueur, topped with Prosecco and ginger beer and finished with fresh mint) — complements a program of comfort food drawn from all 20 regions of Italy and a large selection of Italian sparkling wines." - Ashok Selvam
