"Tucked away on 15th Avenue, I found Liberty to look like a typical Capitol Hill cocktail bar—moody lighting and big leather couches—but it’s one of the few places in the city where you can get good sushi after midnight. When we rolled in just after midnight the mostly empty bar felt sleepy, a lo-fi Lord of the Rings remix drifting from the speakers; the staff seemed bemused by our boisterous six-person group and the host even double-checked with the kitchen that they could still serve us. We got the green light on the yellowtail, and the Fishface—deft proportions of yellowtail, shrimp, jalapeño, pickled radish, and cabbage—was excellent; at $11 per roll it felt like great value for a drinking snack." - Sophie Grossman
