Barbecue Restaurant BBQ Cafe Opens in the Former Doggy Dogg Hot Dog Space Across from Kimball House in Decatur, Georgia - Eater Atlanta
"A new barbecue restaurant is now open on East Howard Avenue in Decatur. BBQ Cafe takes over the former Doggy Dogg hot dog shack next door to Ammazza and across from Kimball House, Decaturish first reported Thursday. Doggy Dogg closed earlier this year after nearly five years in the space. BBQ Cafe, owned by longtime friends Lewis Johnson, John Peeples, and Lloyd Solomon, serves what is described on the website as 'traditional,' slow-smoked barbecue rooted in recipes from Mississippi. Before opening their own restaurant, Johnson, Peeples, and Solomon spent years cooking barbecue for other restaurants as well as for family and friends. Meats on the menu include pulled pork, ribs, and brisket, and smoked chicken and pull barbecue turkey on the weekends, with sides like potato salad and baked beans, and banana or bread pudding for dessert.
