"I saw that the beloved Filipino food truck Flip 'n Patties opened a brick-and-mortar the Friday before Christmas, and its Facebook page shows the restaurant at 1809 Eldridge Pkwy was in a soft opening during the week of Christmas, with posts including a Christmas message and a photo of the kitchen line staff and a thank-you for people who stopped by on opening day, Dec. 22. The new space has plentiful booth and table seating and superhero-inspired mural art reminiscent of the cartoons on the truck, and the menu teases "heaven in your mouth" dishes such as a chicken pupu garlic rice plate topped with furikake and finished with sweet chili sauce and the Jeepney burger with longanisa (Filipino sausage), fried egg, and banana ketchup aioli. The owners endured a robbery at gunpoint in early December that cost them a "substantial" amount of cash, which led them to start a GoFundMe to raise $25,000 toward the restaurant (just over $3,000 had been raised by opening day). Flip 'n Patties is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 1809 Eldridge Pkwy." - Alaena Hostetter
