"I report that this East Village scoop shop, Bad Habit, known for unconventional flavors like miso raspberry and sweet corn, is shutting down on July 14. Owners Jesse Merchant Zuñiga and Javier Zuñiga are leaving New York City and said on Instagram they are 'on to a new adventure, welcoming a baby boy of our own on the West Coast, where we will continue churning, cooking and baking.' They began making ice cream in their Brooklyn apartment during the pandemic; at their peak their pints were delivered throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn and sold on restaurant menus. In 2023 they opened a storefront in the East Village that sold ice cream during the day and wine at night, which Eater called an 'adult ice cream parlor.'" - Luke Fortney
