"A cult-favorite New York City scoop shop known for its richly flavored ice creams, Van Leeuwen got its start in 2008 as a truck and has since expanded into a massive ice cream phenomenon; it also sells pints in grocery stores like Texas’s Central Market. The chain confirmed it will open its Rice Village outpost first, occupying the space at 2565 Amherst Street, with the location expected to arrive in Spring 2021. Earlier reports and recent business filings indicate the company may be planning as many as three Houston scoop shops, with additional filings for Montrose and Uptown Park." - Amy McCarthy
