"Recently relocated to a larger, sit-down-focused venue inside Centerpark Labs in Sorrento Mesa, Hawaiian Fresh Seafood now operates as a working fish supplier offering an expanded takeout-counter menu while running its wholesale operations out of the same space, and there’s an on-site fish market where customers can purchase filets. Tucked just a few blocks from its previous location inside a newly built, contemporary biotech building developed by Longfellow Real Estate Partners, the spot has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating—from communal tables and counter seating inside to patio tables and picnic benches on outdoor turf—and also maintains a poke shop at Liberty Station and a roving food truck. The Market at HFS has grown beyond its poke selection (including ahi limu onion, firecracker salmon, and shoyu ahi) to include favorites like ahi belly bombs (deep-fried ahi-belly), poke bombs (inari sushi topped with poke), and ahi kama (tuna collar served with ponzu), as well as grilled or seared fish sandwiches and beer-battered fish and chips made with New English Brewing’s beer and never-frozen fish. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the restaurant and market will eventually share the space with a New English Brewing satellite taproom, and the company previously donated a portion of its profits to Maui wildfire relief (the fundraiser ended in mid-August, though they may pursue additional fundraising in the future)." - Helen I.
