Amazonico Madrid Will Open London Rainforest Restaurant in Mayfair | Eater London

"A Madrid-born restaurant famed for drawing celebrities, socialites and politicians into a rainforested, nature‑inspired interior will open at 10 Berkeley Square in Mayfair on 9 November. Spanish restaurateurs Santo da Silva and Marta Santos set up a UK company and secured planning permission for the Allied Irish Bank building, with the application handled by Gerald Eve; operational management will be provided by Dogus International Ltd (operators of Zuma, Roka, Inko Nito, Oblix, Coya, Ruya and Tom’s Kitchen). The venue is proposed to offer all‑day trading (7:00am–1:00am) with 281 covers in total — 258 in the main restaurant and 23 at a lounge bar — and a frontage featuring green awnings reminiscent of the Madrid site. Culinary claims emphasize a tropical, Asian, Mediterranean and Brazilian fusion reflective of “a journey down the Amazon,” with an eclectic menu likened to Zuma and Nobu and featuring dishes such as tandoori, sushi, Mexican aguachile, soft egg with caviar, Kobe beef, American steaks, frog legs, poke and churrascaria, while the concept stresses an homage to nature and cultural combinations from Japan, China and India." - James Hansen
