"Set to open in RiNo later this month, this health-focused beverage bar aims to be a calming wellness hub amid a busy neighborhood. By day it will offer a broad selection of kombuchas, kefirs (a yogurt-like fermented milk drink), smoothies and other wellness-oriented beverages; by night it will serve cocktails and mocktails infused with therapeutic ingredients such as goji berries, plus offerings like kava (a psychoactive tea made from a pepper-family root), cacao (a pure, antioxidant-rich form of chocolate) and jun, a probiotic-packed fermented tea. Complementing the drinks are healthy snacks including oats soaked in nut milk with seeds and adaptogen powder, a honey sampler of botanical honeys and oils served with bread and crackers, and an array of vegan desserts and treats. The retro, velvet-forward space at 2636 Walnut Street (entrance through the art alley behind Denver Central Market) includes a bar and lounge, a gallery-style area for rotating art exhibitions (with room for large pieces), and a retail section stocked with goods crafted by local artists and vendors. Owner Jocasta Hanson, a 20-year service-industry veteran, was inspired by the death of friend and chef Matt Lackey and hopes to blend psychology, nutrition, health, art and design into a center for community and connection." - Paul Albani-Burgio
