"The H.Wood Group’s new 40 Love is much more than just a sports bar. It’s not quite a standard country club either (though it does have carry much the same look), and it would not be accurate to simply call the place a restaurant. Instead the new La Cienega lounge is relying on being something different altogether, a home for the usual H.Wood drinking and dining set to while away a Sunday afternoon, sipping cocktails, sharing bites, and keeping one eye on the score ticking past in the corner. Mostly though, the John Sofio-built 40 Love simply feels like a great place to be. The dark wood and leather touches encourage lingering with a drink in hand, while the sunny, green patio in the front is useful for sunny fall days. The food under chef Lord Maynard Llera is right for the vibe, featuring snacky side items and classic mains like a club sandwich, flatbread pizettes, a burger, and brick oven chicken. There are salads and brunch items galore as well, ideal for those morning sports sessions. H.Wood Group leads John Terzian and Brian Toll will pop open the front 40 Love door to the masses on Saturday, keeping hours from 4 p.m. to late night on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. on during the weekends.
