"The Kirby Group, the hospitality company behind local watering holes like Verde Garden and Bayou Heights Bier Garten, is venturing into the world of afternoon tea with its newest restaurant, Emma Jane, according to a release. Located in Harlow District at 1226 West Clay Street near restaurants like Katami and La Griglia, the new restaurant comprises two houses and a 6,000-square-foot patio with an elegant backdrop of floral furnishings. For $65 per person, tea enthusiasts can indulge in a full afternoon tea service with up to three organic teas, a glass of bubbly, and classic presentations of small plates and bites, including tiered trays of pastries made in-house, sweet and savory scones, and tea sandwiches. But there’s more to sip beyond tea and Champagne. Emma Jane will also offer a selection of wine and cocktails, such as its Culture Exchange, a twist on a traditional tequila margarita featuring pineapple, lime, and a hint of kimchi pepper for added spice, and the tropical Panther Beach, a gin cocktail infused with Thai coconut, passionfruit, and pandan. On the food side, the restaurant will serve breakfast and weekend brunches, with dishes like French-style omelets, souffle pancakes, and savory buckwheat crepes available during the day. In the evenings, it will serve dishes like shepherd’s pie, pappardelle duck ragu, and eggplant a la presse. The restaurant is slated to open bright and early at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 8, with tea service offered daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Emma Jane will be open for breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. Its afternoon tea service will be offered from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Dinner will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
