"Opening on October 22 at 1211 East Fifth Street, Suite 150, this counter-service spot from Cody Taylor (former owner of Cafe Josie, which closed in 2020) and Harlan Scott (a restaurant consultant and former operations director at Parkside Projects) brings their San Marcos-born concept to East Austin. The menu features all-day items such as brisket tacos, smoked beet Reubens, chile relleno, burgers, queso, and Sunday brunch, with meats and vegetables smoked in-house, plus a full bar serving whiskies, frozen and draft cocktails, beer, and wine. The owners emphasize fair treatment for staff — offering mental-healthcare access, fair wages, tip sharing for kitchen staff, 40-hour workweeks, and a 15% discount for industry workers — and are currently hiring; the team opened their first Industry in San Marcos in 2018 and recently reopened longtime San Marcos pizzeria Valentino’s.
