"I learned that Atlanta-based speakeasy Red Phone Booth opens tonight in downtown Nashville after an extensive buildout of a 100-year-old building. Located at 136 Rosa Parks Boulevard, the prohibition-themed experience fittingly chose Repeal Day (December 5) to open with a turn-of-the-century cocktail menu and an exclusive cigar program. The bar is open to the public, but guests must first secure the secret-access phone number from a friend, member, or concierge and dial it into the restored London antique red phone booth out front. Open daily, the 5,200-square-foot, 1920s speakeasy-themed lounge will offer an extensive collection of sought-after spirits, like rare bourbon, whiskey, scotch, and Japanese whisky, and the space features restored original brick, reclaimed tobacco barn wood floors, a honey onyx bar, and a hand-painted ceiling with back lighting. Custom Italian leather couches and fireplaces create a cozy scene for shared drinks over small plates and Neapolitan pizzas. For cocktails, expect touches like hand chipped double-reverse pass osmosis ice, cut-to-order garnishes, and 100% fresh squeezed juices such as blood orange, mango, and cranberry. In developing the humidor, Red Phone Booth prioritized quality and desirability of the cigars over quantity and will continually bring in fresh new inventory; a 100% fresh outdoor air system accompanied by five 2,500 cubic foot per minute air purifiers is intended to ensure little to no smoke in the air. A private room in the back is also available to rent for private events." - Delia Jo Ramsey
