"I discovered a recently opened cocktail-and-food hangout at 1525 Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park called La Fe (Spanish for “the faith”), which quietly opened during Echo Park Rising and is thinking bar-first with a focus on cocktails and snacks. Run by Brooke Fruchtman and chef Jaime Turrey in the old Ostrich Farm space, it has a redesigned dining room suited to lounging with a group but retains a full kitchen so the menu can ebb and flow—Turrey wants the flexibility to cook anything from small European-inspired plates to the occasional dry-aged bone-in ribeye without being obligated to serve it nightly. Fruchtman says the intentional “softness” and operational flexibility respond to the challenging restaurant environment of recent years; hours are currently Thursday through Sunday from 5 p.m. until late, Sarah Boisjoli is consulting on beverages, and the vibe borrows widely (French on the bathroom doors, broadly European-inspired food) rather than aligning with any single cuisine or place." - Farley Elliott
