"On a quiet neighborhood street off Livernois and just south of Michigan Avenue, I found Abick’s Bar — a seven-generation, family-owned tavern serving drinks for more than 100 years under a lone green neon sign — which in December is transformed into a kitschy winter wonderland of ornamental santas, black-and-white family portraits, brightly lit trees, and holiday lights; the dim, century-old interior is broken into distinct rooms with pool tables, TVs, a jukebox, a game room (once the women’s area and an ice-block sales spot), and a hideaway cigar room behind the bar that feels like a den with large leather couches and a barbershop-like atmosphere, and patrons may be greeted by Shadow, the bar’s bulky English mastiff." - Eater Staff
