"A long-running, 15-year-old neighborhood bar announced it will close permanently after a sudden state order again forced full shutdowns of venues that don’t also serve food. Ownership told staff in an internal email that, even with federal loan assistance, mounting debt—including back rent and unpaid vendors—plus no timeline for reopening makes continuing operations untenable without taking on more debt. Faced with inventory they can’t move and ongoing closures, the owners have decided to sell; requests for further comment went unanswered." - Farley Elliott
