"I'm excited about Cotoletta, a new Italian bistro opening October 18 in Coconut Grove at the corner of Commodore Street and Grand Avenue that centers on the classic Veal Milanese (cotoletta alla Milanese). For $80 the prix fixe menu for two includes seasonal antipasti and the signature cotoletta—prepared with rosemary and lemon zest by executive chef Giulio Rossi—plus a choice of three sides: spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico, house fries, or an arugula salad with tomatoes and Parmigiano-Reggiano. Desserts are $9 and feature flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake with raspberry coulis, and a vanilla affogato supreme, while the drinks list focuses on Northern Italian wines (including a Chianti Classico and a Gavi), alongside Italian beers and Prosecco-based cocktails. The restaurant, from 84 Magic Hospitality partners Ignacio Lopez Mancisidor, Mattia Cicognani, and Andrea Fraquelli, leans on Fraquelli’s family history—his grandfather Lorenzo popularized serving a small pasta course with cotoletta in England—and the team says they’re focused on doing justice to the Milanese tradition. The team transformed the space in six weeks into a cozy 50-seat bistro designed by Eduardo Suarez with indoor and outdoor seating and family photos on the walls; hours are Tuesday–Saturday 5:30 p.m.–11 p.m., with Saturday lunch noon–4 p.m., and reservations are available at 786-409-7151." - Olee Fowler
