The French Laundry Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Cannabis Company Maven Genetics | Eater SF

"I read that Maven Genetics, a cannabis company, had named an award-winning strain as a playful tribute to its parent genetics and then received a cease-and-desist from the French Laundry; in a press release Maven said it would honor the letter “with a blend of pride and a touch of regret,” retire the French Laundry name to avoid legal entanglements, scrub all references from its website and packaging, and rebrand the product as “FKAFL” (Formerly Known as French Laundry), with brand director Miguel De Vivo telling Forbes the original name was a play on the strains LA Rouge and the Soap and that garnering attention from the culinary world at such a level was surprising and exciting." - Dianne de Guzman
