"Kabuli Grill in Astoria is hedging its big bet on a tough location — with lots of closings on the two-block commercial stretch over the past several years. It’s split into two separate sections for takeout and dine-in. The latter is thoughtfully decorated with a three-dimensional geometric design inlay on the wall. The food is solid: the leek bolani (flatbread) is stuffed with fresh greens, and the eggplant borani features thick slices of eggplant in a tomato sauce with garlic yogurt and lots of herbs. They both come with a cilantro chutney with a spicy kick." - Caroline Shin
