"Polish Village’s bright red brick building and red awning have been welcoming guests since 1979 to experience the flavors of Poland right in Hamtramck, and the cafe hasn’t slowed down much since. On any given afternoon, old-timers rub elbows with gawking tourists unloading from tour buses at the subterranean cafe. PVC fare leans into the hearty classics, like kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and several flavors of pierogi — doughy dumplings fried up in butter and served with a dollop of sour cream. The dill pickle soup is a crowd-pleaser, as is the cafe’s selection of Polish beers and brandies. Online ordering is available, but it’s worth visiting in person for the old-school ambiance." - Mickey Lyons
