"Opening Friday, February 7 at 1124 Boylston St. in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood next to Berklee College of Music, this New York City–based halal restaurant chain began as a food cart in Richmond Hill, Queens in 2005 and opened its first restaurant in 2016; it has since expanded to more food carts, more than a dozen restaurants in the United States, and one restaurant in London, with each location certified halal by the Halal Food Council U.S.A. The menus at Shah’s New York and London locations include gyros; rice dishes featuring chicken, falafel, kofta, fish, and lamb; hummus; and Philly cheesesteaks, and the restaurants’ recipes are derived from family recipes. Owner Khalid Mashriqi said they are bringing the same authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and competitive price point to Boston, and the Fenway spot will occupy the former Crazy Dough’s Pizza outpost at that address." - Terrence Doyle
