"Led by Ana Liz Pulido, who won the 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Texas, this small Mission, Texas scratch kitchen focuses on precise, traditional techniques: corn is nixtamalized daily with Mexican corn to make fresh tortillas, meats are smoked and prepared in-house, and a tightly curated menu is supplemented by special menus inspired by the chef’s three annual trips to Mexico. Pulido expressed pride in representing the Rio Grande Valley and a border-town community, thanked her father after the win, and sees the Beard recognition as validation of the labor behind her food. The restaurant is expanding from its current five-table footprint into the neighboring space to increase capacity.
