"At Ernesto’s on the Lower East Side, operating partner Alexandra Niakani says the restaurant invested in a general contractor to add outlets to run electric heaters and also used five propane heaters to cover 50 outdoor seats through the winter because "diners are expecting these luxury outdoor facilities," and management was prepared to risk fines to keep heaters running rather than disappoint customers seeking a grander al fresco experience." - Erika Adams
