"A longtime Italian American spot open since 1971 at 621 Ninth Avenue (at 44th Street), this family-run restaurant was opened by Anna and Guido Schiattarella, originally from Naples, Italy, and began as a pizzeria. Since the end of the pandemic it has accrued debt driven by rising rent, utility bills, and insurance, and has reached out to the community for support to prevent closing. Co-owner and one of the founder’s children, Consiglia “Connie” Rogers, says: “I keep asking other stores and vendors what’s going on? Am I the only one here? And they say, ‘No, Connie, you’re not the only one.’”" - Nadia Chaudhury
