"The former Ramen Bangaichi at 4339 Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake is now Kenbey, a Japanese sushi restaurant from chef Kenji Koyama. The surprise opening is just a few days old, but there are already big ramifications for the neighborhood’s growing sushi scene, considering Sunset Sushi is across the street and Kombu Sushi is just down the street, as is Osen Izakaya — and that’s to say nothing of Michelin-rated Morihiro over in Atwater. Fans will know chef Koyama’s work from Necco, his longtime health-conscious West LA Japanese restaurant beloved by many, including (according to the New York Times) the singer Lorde.
