"I'm told a Chinese ice cream shop called Nobibi is planning an Austin location sometime next year, though there is no set address yet and the chain's immediate priority is opening its Los Angeles shop (which isn’t open yet and should debut in the fall), followed by expansions to Houston and Portland. Based on the website and the Los Angeles location, Nobibi is set up as a very stylish, Japanese-inspired soft-serve concept serving trendy-looking soft-serve, colorful drinks, and sweets — including edible 24-carat gold-foil-topped soft-serve, cotton candy-wrapped ice cream, black waffle cones, and tons of sprinkles. The planned LA shop is decorated with swing seating, hanging bubble chairs, plush sofas, a ball pit, oversized stuffed animals, pink neon signage, mirrors that look like life-size Instagram posts, millennium pink everywhere, cacti, and other pretty decorations. The brand also intends locations in Houston, Dallas, Oregon, and Washington state, though no projected opening dates have been announced." - Nadia Chaudhury
