"Known for its stuffed deep-dish pizzas and frequent appearances on “best” pizza lists, Zachary’s Chicago Pizza opened its fifth location on Grand Avenue in Oakland in the former Camino space; the employee-owned company announced plans for the takeover over a year ago. The new spot represents a big change for the space — shifting from critically acclaimed, high-end California cuisine to a family-friendly pizza joint — and the menu appears to deviate little from other outposts, keeping favorites like the Zachary’s Special (Italian sausage, green pepper, onion, mushroom and mozzarella) and the Good Health (chicken breast, spinach, and reduced-fat mozzarella on a wheat crust). This Grand Avenue location adds a full bar, which Zachary’s COO Leandra Schuler said would be the first for the chain, but it does not offer third-party delivery, so you’ll need to visit in person to get items like the stuffed Barbecue Chicken (chicken breast, red onions, cilantro, barbecue sauce, and cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses). It’s open for dinner 5–10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5–10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays." - Eve Batey
