"Beauty’s Bagel Shop has expanded its presence in Oakland with a new Uptown location. The new Beauty’s just passed its final inspections and opens Thursday, October 25th for more wood-fired bagels. Beauty’s — one of the best comebacks to the oft-leveled accusation that the Bay Area lacks a good bagel — is owned by Amy Remsen and Blake Joffe. The couple’s inspiration comes from Montreal, and the bagels are hand-shaped, boiled in honey-sweetened water, and wood-fired. The second shop was designed by Gensler and features exposed brick, cafe tables and counter seating, and the shop’s classical logo on a peach-colored backdrop. The new location offers roughly the same menu as in Temescal, with additions like a pot roast beef bagel sandwich and a tuna melt bagel sandwich." - Caleb Pershan
