"A casual Chinese American restaurant and bar in the city’s historic Chinatown district in Midtown, opened in 2016 to mostly rave reviews. It abruptly closed on July 22 for renovations and is expected to remain shuttered until at least October; some reports said employees were given only hours' notice. The restaurant’s operator, the Detroit Optimist Society hospitality group, said the downtime will be used to reimagine the space and complete much-needed upgrades and thanked staff and patrons. Under the late chef de cuisine Brion Wong the menu drew on his Chinese American upbringing in New York for modern takes on classics — notably almond boneless chicken, salt-and-pepper shrimp, and roast pork — though after his departure the eatery shifted toward more familiar dishes." - Serena Maria Daniels
