"According to a Wednesday tweet from the East Bay chapter of the DSA and reporting from an April 30 demonstration, workers at the McDonald’s at 1100 Fillmore Street said at least one planned to strike after discovering confirmed COVID-19 cases among co-workers and receiving no response from management; cooks and cashiers told the San Francisco Chronicle that at least four employees had tested positive and that the group filed a complaint with the San Francisco Department of Public Health alleging employees came to work visibly sick and that, when PPE was scarce, employees were told to wear coffee filters as masks. The franchisee, Peter Ou, denies that any workers have fallen ill and says the restaurant is in full compliance with all state-level orders, including sick pay and PPE requirements." - Eve Batey
