"The glam, surf-and-turf conglomerate STK, known for planting outposts in posh cities like NYC, Ibiza, South Beach, Vegas, and Dubai, is making another attempt in D.C.; billed as a “modern steakhouse and a chic lounge,” it will open in Mt. Vernon Triangle’s massive Marriott Marquis hotel at 901 Massachusetts Avenue NW. My takeaway is that the scene-y concept centers around splurges — Japanese wagyu, dry-aged steaks, lobster linguini — along with a raw bar, “power lunch” and happy hour menus; the new location is listed to seat 100 inside and 76 alfresco. STK’s previous D.C. effort flopped in 2016 after a two-year run at another Northwest address, and during that short tenure it faced some criticism for its “female-friendly” stereotyping theme. The brand comes from ONE Group, a global hospitality company behind several polished concepts." - Tierney Plumb
