"I read that Red Hook Winery was busted by the State Liquor Authority this weekend after owner Mark Snyder was arrested for allegedly illegally distilling an Italian-style brandy called grappa on the premises; officials declared four gas-fired stills explosion hazards and charged Snyder with “the illicit manufacturing of alcoholic beverages,” a class-E felony that can carry one to four years in prison, though Snyder called it “an administrative issue and a misunderstanding,” and state officials said it was the first arrest of a bootlegger in NYC since 1960." - Stefanie Tuder
