"I checked out the newest Australian coffee company to land on LA’s shores: Roo Coffee, a cutely named storefront with prime real estate in front of Sunset Triangle Plaza that officially opened yesterday. Much like other Australian offshoots, it trades in espresso culture and fresh, colorful cafe fare from its home country—owners Elyse Goyen and Tom and Kate O’Connor are using Counter Culture Coffee beans, which makes sense given its proximity to that company’s beautiful training center—and the tight menu includes ubiquitous avocados, granola, and nutrition-loaded super smoothies. The small square footage has big ideas: pink terrazzo tables offer gathering space while white exterior cafe tables let diners enjoy the sun, but there is no wifi for now. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting tomorrow (today they close at 4 p.m. and will stop doing food most days around 5 p.m.)." - Farley Elliott
