"I visited the new First Hill Amazon Go store at 1122 Madison St., a high-tech, cashless convenience store where shoppers scan their smartphone on entry and items are added to a virtual cart as they’re removed from the shelves; the store then charges shoppers’ Amazon accounts through the Amazon Go app. The checkout-free process can feel somewhat like shoplifting and often sows confusion among the uninitiated. The store carries options such as prepared and frozen food, sandwiches, grocery staples, and Amazon Meal Kits, and is part of a small network that began with the world’s first Amazon Go in Denny Triangle in January 2018 and now includes five Seattle locations (one in the Macy’s Building with restricted access) plus stores in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York." - Megan Hill
