"Kadence became one of the city’s best restaurants the moment it opened back in 2017, and eight years on, the nine-seat sushi and sake bar inside an all-black edifice still offers one of the best dining experiences in the city with its intimate omakases, kaisekis, sushi lunches, and Japanese breakfasts. Co-founders Mark Berdin and Jennifer Banagale, along with a dedicated team of cooks and servers, continue to plate impeccably presented Japanese dishes in raw, cooked, and always decadent form. The pair isn’t shy about closing the restaurant down for prolonged periods to travel (or take much-needed breaks), so checking the schedule on Tock is essential. Those with tighter budgets can still indulge in the Kadence experience by dining at the bar. Best of all, walk-ins are welcome." - Faiyaz Kara
