Mac and Jack’s Brewing Has Been Sold to a Wine Company | Eater Seattle

"At 30 years old, this brewery — pronounced as one word, “macnjax,” when ordering its flagship African Amber — was recently sold to Ackley Brands; the price wasn’t disclosed. I learned co-owners Mac Rankin and Jack Schropp approached the buyer because they wanted more management structure and financial flexibility in case a zoning change forces them to move. Not much is likely to change for drinkers: Rankin and Schropp will stay on for the next year to help with the transition, and Ackley intends to keep the brewery’s 25 employees. Ackley, founded in 2016 and previously focused on wines, says this is its first beer brand and may make further moves into the beer market." - Harry Cheadle
