"Gamer’s cafe Platforms opened just a few weeks ago in Rutledge Hill, aiming to be a haven for gamers to gather over virtual reality, pizza, and beer. The cafe seeks to attract all gamers, whether amateur or professional. Owner Luke Sykes says, “Instead of slapping a few consoles onto a bar, we focused primarily on the social gaming experience.” WSMV recently featured the self-described gamer’s cafe, a 5000-square-foot new venue which offers VR, PC, and console gaming, and hosts weekly events and tournaments. Each console and PC station has space for refreshments while gamers get fully immersed at one of Platforms’ eight standard virtual reality bays with 12-by-12 foot play spaces. As the name implies, the cafe also provides gaming options on all types of platforms. The tight menu includes pizzas, lasagna, and a rotating selection of baked goods from local bakeries. Draft beer, French press coffee, and Sprecher cane sugar soda are also available for purchase. Reservations are not required, but are sometimes recommended for the VR bays. Those reservations may be made on Platforms’ website. Platforms is open Tuesday-Sunday, from 12 p.m. to midnight. The full menu is below:" - Delia Jo Ramsey
