"A beloved Dallas institution since opening in 1971, Celebration Restaurant earned a dedicated crowd of multi-generational regulars with simple, home-cooking–style fare—best known for pecan-crusted chicken and pot roast—and was a stalwart on Eater’s iconic Dallas restaurants map. Its longtime owner, Ed Lowe, who opened the restaurant nearly 47 years ago, died at 69 while canoeing in West Texas; park rangers recovered his body from the Rio Grande after an accident in Big Bend National Park. The restaurant has not yet issued a statement about Lowe’s passing, and its future remains unclear." - Amy McCarthy
