"Chica, located at the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip, is a restaurant run by Lorena Garcia, the first Latina woman to open a restaurant on the Strip. It serves Latin American dishes inspired by Garcia's family recipes, including Asada negros arepas with house-made anise and piloncillo arepas topped with braised short rib, and desserts like tres leches cakes and flan. For Mother’s Day, Chica offers a special menu with dishes such as a sweet spring peach salad with cherry tomatoes and a Champagne vinaigrette, roasted Peruvian snapper with wilted spinach, pickled red onions, and aji-rocoto sauce, and a bien me sabe coconut cake layered with coconut cream and strawberry hibiscus jam, decorated with swirls of coconut, mango, raspberry, and rose petals. The event also features a roving cotton candy cart, Mom-osas made with fresh juices and cava, and bunuelos, Garcia’s fried dough fritters, with cooking demonstrations by Garcia herself." - Susan Stapleton
