Detroit City Council Has Rejected a Proposed Food Safety Ordinance | Eater Detroit

"As co-owner of a downtown Flood’s Bar and Grille (as well as The Block and the adjoining Garden Theater in Midtown), Stephanie Byrd vocally opposed the proposed food-safety signage ordinance, saying "Scott Benson was trying to fix something that actually wasn’t a problem," calling the measure "tone deaf," and arguing it came at terrible timing while many restaurants are still recovering from the pandemic; Byrd and the Metro Detroit Black Business Alliance also contended the requirement would disproportionately impact Black restaurant owners." - Serena Maria Daniels
