"Opening in Reston Town Center West on Monday, April 15, in a 100-seat space at 12100 Sunset Hills Road, the new upscale restaurant from New Delhi native Rajiv Chopra blends ornate 1970s Bombay and 1930s–40s American household influences with velvet chesterfield sofas, colorful Indian chairs, copper-tinted mirrors, and a massive chandelier of 380 lights; the dining room includes a small outdoor patio, an eight-seat bar, and orders are plated on handpicked, elegant crockery. Recipes showcase five different regions of India — north, south, east, west, and coastal — and explicitly reflect the influence of foreign powers on the subcontinent, including the Mughals, Turks, Persians, Afghans, French, Portuguese, Armenians, and the British. An onyx-lit bar will serve wines imported from India and rose-infused vodka, while cocktails rely on Indian regional spices; the Dhuyaan, for example, is presented with a billowing cloud of roasted coriander smoke and contains bourbon, fenugreek, and orange peel–infused barley water. Chopra, who also owns the Indian sweets store Evergreen Sweets in Chantilly, is big on desserts — the Khosla Ka Ghosla pairs a sweet vermicelli nest with dates and rabdi — and the restaurant is projected to operate Sunday–Thursday 10:30 a.m.–11 p.m. and Friday–Saturday until midnight." - Tierney Plumb
