Waffle House Brings Out ‘No Water’ Menu | Eater
"After a DeKalb County boil-water advisory left parts of metro Atlanta without potable water, roughly 20 local restaurants of the chain shifted to a rarely used no-water menu to cope with limited clean water for preparation and an expected surge as other eateries closed. The pared-down offering consists of six entrees — a quarter-pound Angus hamburger, grilled chicken sandwich, sausage sandwich, grilled ham sandwich, grilled cheese sandwich, and sausage biscuit — with sausage and city ham available as sides and bottled or canned drinks for beverage service. Foods that require water, such as chili and grits, can only be served if prepared before the advisory; water-boiling stations are being used to keep hands and dishes clean. Because hot coffee is considered essential, availability varies by location and some restaurants are brewing manually (using boiled water to do pour-over) when machines are switched off their usual hookups." - Chris Fuhrmeister
