Vegan Sushi To Splash Down in Mission Beach - Eater San Diego

"NoW Sushi, San Diego’s first vegan sushi bar, will land on Mission Boulevard this March. Partners Monica Berki and Lindsi DeMik also own NoW Cafe, a vegan sandwich and smoothie spot nearby. The eateries are named for their non profit, NoWorriesMovement, which supports animal welfare and is building its own animal sanctuary; proceeds from both restaurants will go to benefit the organization. Berki says she’s a big fan of Kensho Sushi, which opened last summer in Orange County and has garnered rave reviews for its all-vegan sushi menu. She approached Kensho’s owners to buy their recipes, which will now be featured at NoW Sushi, and tells Eater that she hopes to turn the concept into a multi-unit franchise. Signature specialty rolls include the Sweet P with sweet potato tempura, a Caterpillar roll made with shiitake mushroom “eel”, and a crunchy California roll made with mock crab. Berki says there will also be appetizers and some new dishes highlighting the meat-free Impossible burger; beer, wine, and sake will also be offered.
