"The hotel’s existing restaurant space (80 Compromise Street, Annapolis, Maryland) — formerly occupied by the long-running rum-and-Painkiller spot — will be redeveloped by a Baltimore-based restaurateur into two new concepts. Alex Smith, founder and CEO of Atlas Restaurant Group, said: "Through this deal, we will transform the hotel into a culinary destination that will not only delight locals, but also attract visitors from near and far," in a press release. Mayor Gavin Buckley added, "We like it in Annapolis when people invest in waterfront restaurants," reflecting city support for waterfront restaurant investment. Employees of the existing restaurant and catering operations will have the choice to join the new team, and the two-part project is expected to collectively employ nearly 400 people from the Annapolis community." - Claudia Rosenbaum
