"Kicks off Women’s History Month with a dim sum and desserts dinner on Sunday, March 2 featuring six female pastry chefs from across the country — all of whom received 2025 James Beard semifinalist nominations personally or for their respective restaurant/bakery. Susan Bae, head of pastry, says: "The main theme of this is women who are influential or have made an impact in our lives personally." Each pastry chef will serve their own savory or sweet pastry course, with chef Kevin Tien kicking things off with three or four dim sum options inspired by his own mother, grandmother, and other women who have influenced his cooking. The lineup includes Isabel Coss (D.C.’s Pascual and Lutece), Leigh Omilinsky (Daisies in Chicago), Emily Riddell (Machine Shop in Philly), Monique and Paul Feybesse (Tarts de Feybesse in Oakland, California), and Melissa Mcgaughey (Quail and Condor in Healdsburg, California). Bae leads the dinner and local food and wine journalist Nycci Nellis will ask chefs about the backstory behind each dish; Moon Rabbit’s all-female pastry team will also contribute a dessert for a takeaway box including small bites like tea cakes, cookies, and blondies. Bae divulged that Mcgaughey will be making a French onion soup and Monique Feybesse will be serving a savory ensyamada to round out the savory options, while local sommelier Janet Cam is pairing wine with each dessert course and will be including nontraditional spirits like baijiu in her pairings.
