"Planned for the former Spice Market space at 403 West 13th St. at Ninth Avenue, this new restaurant from Chef Marc Forgione—teaming with his father Larry Forgione and the Butter Group—will serve Italian-Mediterranean food described as “Mediterranean fusion” and, given the Butter team’s nightlife background, will likely be a bit of a party scene. The huge space will feature an open kitchen, a communal table and a private garden, with Richie Akiva and the Forgiones setting the food and scene; Butter’s Roy Nachum is designing the restaurant. Named after fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti (who rose to fame in the ’90s and whose death at age 20 in 1997 was a major factor in the end of the era of “heroin chic”), Davide is expected to open in early 2019. It’s Marc Forgione’s first new restaurant in more than two years and Larry Forgione’s first in decades; Larry has won multiple James Beard awards and has been called “the Godfather of American cuisine.”" - Serena Dai
