"I found a new culinary bookstore and event space in Retro Row at 2116 4th Street that aims to be more than a shop: Kitchen Lingo Books, opened last weekend by Matt Miller, a longtime restaurant employee, owner, and food writer with roots in Chicago and a former Eater contributor. The tiny, roughly 400‑square‑foot shop will carry modern cookbooks and food magazines alongside staple tomes from past decades — including a 1930 copy of The Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook — community cookbooks of handed‑down recipes, food writing by names like M.F.K. Fisher (including some first editions), and a slate of vintage and collectible volumes beyond standard chef collaboration books.
